Within the Instructional Services Division, the Child, Youth and Family Services program seeks to develop relationships among schools, agencies and communities that support families, youth and children so that all students will be able to learn and to prepare themselves to participate fully in a diverse and changing society.
Staff members in Child, Youth and Family Services manage a variety of projects that offer services to clients in San Mateo County. These include the areas of child care, home language support, preschool for all, state preschool, health and prevention services, child welfare and attendance and family-school partnerships.
In 2008-09, the priorities of Child, Youth and Family Services include professional learning opportunities in alignment with the release of the Preschool Learning Foundations with a special emphasis on social-emotional development.
