The San Mateo County Office of Education provides leadership and support to public schools through its three Divisions: Instructional Services, Fiscal and Operational Services, and Student Services.
Instructional services and resources include Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment, educational technology, preschool, professional development, Program Improvement and Outdoor Education for fifth graders.
Fiscal services help districts manage over $500 million annually and maintain compliance. Accounting, budgeting, and payroll functions maximize revenues. Other services include processing warrants and preparing W-2 forms and PERS, STRS and Social Security reports.
The County Office operates Special Education programs for students with severe disabilities, Court and Community Schools for 2,000 at-risk students, and Regional Occupational Program (ROP) career technical preparation courses for 5,000 high school students and adults.
